Who We Are
A service-disabled veteran-owned, family-run video gaming and eSports education venue, built for the Capital Region.
Our mission
Built by a family, for the community.
VDO Gaming & eSports Education's mission is to provide a high-tech esports gaming and education facility where competitive and recreational gamers alike can come together in a fun, safe, and friendly environment. We use esports as a gateway to community involvement, academic achievement, and career development for youth, offering hands-on educational opportunities in career paths such as event management, graphic design, content creation, broadcasting, and many more within the esports industry. Through structured competitive play, we build a pipeline that helps players sharpen their skills and pursue opportunities at every level, while our programs weave in STEM engagement to strengthen problem-solving, technical literacy, and critical thinking. At the core of everything we do is a commitment to inclusive access — creating a safe, equitable, and welcoming space for all gamers, including those who might otherwise face barriers to opportunity.
Our story
We saw what was missing. So we built it.
VDO Gaming & Esports Education Center was founded by a disabled U.S. military veteran and his family with a simple belief: gaming can be so much more than a game.
We dreamt of creating something the Capital Region has never had—a place where people could come together through gaming while also learning, growing, and discovering new opportunities.
That dream became VDO.
Our vision has always been twofold: to create a dynamic community gaming hub and to build a center where gaming connects with education, technology, workforce development, and real-world opportunity.
We wanted VDO to be a place where kids can discover new interests, families can spend time together, players can compete, students can develop valuable skills, and people of all ages and abilities can feel welcome.
Most importantly, we wanted to create a safe, inclusive, and exciting environment where everyone has a place.
So instead of waiting for someone else to build it, we built it ourselves.
Today, VDO is more than a gaming facility. It is a growing community built around connection, education, competition, creativity, and opportunity.
This is what we dreamt about. This is what we built. And this is only the beginning.
Have fun while both learning and improving yourself.
